A originally a graveyard for prostitutes, this was also a graveyard for any unfortunates in the area. During excavations between 1991 and 1998, bodies found there showed residents had suffered from smallpox, TB, Paget’s disease, osteoathritis, and vitamin D deficiency (rather dull those last two). More than 33% were between 22 weeks gestation and seven days after birth, and 11% were less than a year old.
